General

All orders for products and services that are accepted by Thermosense Direct are subject to the terms below. No other terms will apply for the supply of products and services unless otherwise agreed in writing by an authorised signatory of Thermosense.

Making A Purchase

Browse our store and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping basket. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' to complete the order process. If you have made a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping basket, contact us and we will correct the mistake, assuming the goods have not already been despatched .

Once we have received your order we will send a sales order acknowledgement to the email address entered during checkout. The acknowledgement will include an estimated despatch date and indicates that we have received your order, it does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice after the order has been despatched. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Risk of loss of or damage to the products shall pass to the customer on delivery. Ownership of the products shall not pass to the customer until full payment of the purchase price of the goods and of all other amounts owing to Thermosense Limited has been made.

Whilst we would like to trade with many companies and individuals, we reserve the right to decline to trade, or accept an order from any company or person, whether or not payment has already been received.

We reserve the right to decline any order which you place in circumstances which may include, but which are not limited to, the following situations:

  • The item which you have ordered is not in stock or no longer available.

  • We are unable to obtain authorisation for payment from you.

  • We identify a pricing error on our website.

  • You fail to meet any of the criteria which we stipulate for eligibility at any point throughout this website.

Security

Our entire website is secured by a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate, providing an encrypted connection between your internet browser and our website. The SSL connection protects any sensitive data exchanged during your visit from being intercepted by non-authorsied parties. PCI Compliance

Our website is scanned on a quarterly basis by Security Metrics, a leading brand in PCI DSS compliance. This ensures that high security standards are maintained, which significantly reduces the risk that our website will be compromised and credit card or other sensitive data will be stolen or misused.

Payment

Online payments can be made confidently via our well-known and trusted secure payment service provider, Global Payments. Details of your order and payment status are passed back to us (we do not hold card payment details). For added security, Global Payments also incorporates the 'MasterCard SecureCode' and 'Verified by VISA' systems. Note: for security reasons we no longer accept payment cards over the telephone - we will send you a link via email to make the payment with our secure payment service provider. We will be notified once the transaction has processed successfully. View our payment page for more information.

Delivery

We offer a selection of shipping methods during the checkout process. Certain services are only offered for order totals not exceeding a certain amount/weight.

For UK destinations not classed as mainland (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Isle of Wight) delivery costs are considerably higher than the offered standard rate and timed deliveries cannot be guaranteed. We reserve the right to use a different delivery service if the costs for a chosen service escalate or we feel a different service would be a better choice for the delivery destination.

All orders are carefully packed, protected and double-checked prior to despatch from our site. Each shipment contains a delivery note and invoice corresponding to the original order. Export shipments are charged extra at cost and will be agreed before despatch.

Delivery Schedule

We will do our very best to despatch your order within 24 hours of receipt during our normal office hours. Stock orders received before 15:00 GMT will be processed and despatched the same day, subject to availability. Orders received outside of these hours (including weekends and bank holidays) will be treated as the next working day. For items requiring manufacture and additional services such as in-house calibration, please allow for a longer despatch time.

You must inform us within two working days if the goods are lost or damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt claim against the delivery company and rectify the problem. Please quote your order number in all correspondence.

You agree that proof of delivery supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been received.

Back Orders

If an item is not in stock, we will back order it for you. You will be contacted with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.

Special Offers

Special offers apply to orders placed on this website only. For delivery-related special offers (e.g. Free Delivery) we will decide the most appropriate and cost-effective form of delivery for your order. We reserve the right to alter or remove any offers or prices at any time.

VAT

Payable on all products at the rate ruling on the date of invoice. Any VAT charged, will appear during the checkout process.

For deliveries to non-UK countries, couriers will require the customer to pay local taxes (Duty + VAT) before delivery.

Damage in Transit or Short Deliveries

Any damages, faulty products or short deliveries must be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery date. We will do everything possible to resolve the query promptly.

Descriptions and Prices

We have tried very hard to ensure that descriptions of products, services and prices are detailed and accurate. All quoted measurements are approximate. We cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions. Should you have any cause for complaint please contact us and we will do our best to amicably resolve the issue.

Suitability

We will do our very best to advise you, if requested, on the suitability of the products for use in your application. The suitability must, however, be at your discretion, as you are the best judge or your application.

Returns

Your rights to return goods are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive. Custom manufactured items cannot be returned/refunded unless otherwise agreed in writing by an authorised Thermosense representative. You are entitled to cancel your order and return the goods (stock items only) within 7 working days (from date of receipt) for a full refund, excluding the cost of delivery. Do this by contacting us by email or telephone and quoting the order number supplied to you. Your refund will be paid within 30 days. You are responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value. This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when we are at fault - for example, if goods are faulty or misdescribed. Any goods returned should be in a saleable condition.

  1. A completed product return form must be included with all returns.

  2. Any unauthorised returns received without a valid return form may not be processed or handled. They will be held in quarantine and may be disposed of after 21 days. This is in line with our Health and Safety policy.

  3. Once the online product return form has been created the items must be received by Thermosense Ltd within 31 days. If not received the return will be considered closed.

  4. All returns must be sent by a recognised tracked postal or courier service with adequate insurance.

  5. On inspection, if no fault is found an investigation charge may be applied. A packing and carriage charge for the return may also be applied. The goods will be released once a payment has been made or an official purchase order received to cover the costs.

  6. If the goods, following inspection, are to be disposed of, Thermosense will request, in writing, the customers' agreement. If this is not received the goods will be returned to the customer, packing and carriage will then be charged.

  7. Unless specifically requested, all returns must be sent to our correct returns address as clearly stated on the form. Any returned goods that are sent to our incorrect address will incur an additional £20.00 carriage charge (excluding VAT) for us to forward via a recognised carrier to our returns department. This charge will either be paid by the customer or deducted from any refund given.

Certification

We are ISO9001 certified and fully compliant with the WEEE and RoHS & REACH standards.

Liability and Guarantee

All products are guaranteed to function correctly on delivery and be free of faulty workmanship. Any products that are considered by us to be faulty will be promptly replaced, at our cost. Unless otherwise stated by us, the lifespan of the items cannot be guaranteed. The limitation of our liability is strictly limited to the value of the product in question.

Ownership

The goods remain the property of Thermosense Limited until paid for in full.
